Calvary of the Divine Mercy
The cross is folly to those who are perishing,
but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
(1 Corinthians 1:18)
Twenty years ago, Fr. Marcel Larouche, with the support of his parishioners at Ste-Marie-de-l'Assomption in Green Valley, had the idea of building a Calvary site. They were inspired by Saint Louis-Marie of Montfort who would end his great retreats by constructing a Calvary in the cities and villages where he preached.
Our Story
Much prayer and labour went into building Calvary of the Divine Mercy. However, were it not for the immense generosity of local businessman, Hubert Sabourin (1929 - 2013) this dream may not have been realized. On August 15, 2004, Bishop Paul-André Durocher officially blessed the Calvary site.
The grounds are open year-round but are at their loveliest during the summer months. From June to September there is a special monthly outdoor Mass and Stations of the Cross (see schedule to the left).
This tranquil setting provides you the chance to pray and meditate on the last hours of Jesus' time on earth.
Fr. Didier Kaba and his parishioners invite you to come and experience Calvary this summer.
